Supporting St. Mary’s Home, an orphanage for girls in Kyauktan, Myanmar
We provide financial support to St. Mary’s Home in Kyauktan, Myanmar. This orphanage provides a home to girls in a country beleaguered by civil war and poverty. Despite the many charged conflicts in the region, St. Mary’s provides a safe and equitable home for girls of all nationalities and religions.

01
Currently, over 120 girls are in the care of the Sisters at St. Mary’s Home. These girls hail from different ethnicities and religions but live and learn in peace at the Home.
02
St Mary’s Home is situated on a 50-acre farm that is used to create sustainability for those in its care. There are 50 workers employed to help care for the livestock, drive delivery trucks and do electrical work. The work they do helps provide the over 1000 bags of rice a year required to feed those at the farm.

St. Mary’s Home has a long history, but the current Orphanage was moved to the farm in 1996. Since then, many girls have grown up as successful adults using the self-reliance the Orphanage instilled. Some left to study in college, others received vocational training at St. Mary’s, and some girls chose the path of service and entered formation for religious life.
The Children Charitable Foundation is an independently run 501(c)(3) charitable organization that supports St. Mary’s Home through financial contributions. While the Foundation has built a strong partnership with the orphanage, we are a distinct legal entity based in the United States.
St. Mary’s Home is an orphanage run by the Servite Sisters of Madona Province. The girls living under the sisters’ care are of multiple ethnicities and religions. Catholic, Buddhist, Muslim, Burmese, Arakanese, Chin, Kachin, Kayah, Karen, Wa, and Indian girls live in peace under the watch of the Sisters who oversee the Home. While Catholic girls attend Mass, Buddhist and Muslim girls are not required to do so.
St. Mary’s Home provides a safe home for poverty-stricken girls and those whose parents have fallen victim to the conflicts of the region, regardless of their ethnicity or religious affiliation. Girls are free to follow their own beliefs, and while some do convert to Catholicism, many do not. The Sisters’ mission is to provide a home to those without one and give them skills to become self-sustaining as they reach adulthood. As such, donor funds are used to advance this mission and not for missionary work. Donor funds allow the Orphanage to be maintained and for the purchase of material goods that cannot be grown/raised at St. Mary’s Home itself. It also supports the children’s education through expenses like stationary, books, and school fees.
St. Mary’s home used to have a website but it has been offline since around 2023. The Sisters have relied on outside donors to host their website due to the difficulty of establishing one hosted in the country. We are working with the Sisters to establish a new website in 2025. When the website is up, we will post a link from the Foundations website. For now, please feel free to read more information about St. Mary’s here and follow the links in the Outside Sources section here.
